Apple is planning to revamp the design of its TestFlight app that is available to developers to test their beta apps, and the revised design was revealed in WWDC’s App Store Connect session.
TestFlight in iOS 18 has a new invite feature that will better showcase the app by highlighting key information including app name and logo, screenshots, developer name, expiration date, and app description.
The updated design looks more similar to the App Store than the current TestFlight interface, which offers little in the way of app data beyond what is being tested. Apple’s current design assumes that testers are familiar with the software they are invited to test, while refresh provides valuable information to testers who may not be familiar with the software’s design.
Along with the design changes, the new version of the program allows developers to register testers who meet several requirements, such as special equipment and types of use. TestFlight only allows testers who meet the requirements to accept TestFlight’s public invitation.
Apple hasn’t yet released a revamped TestFlight app, but it will come sometime this summer or fall when iOS 18 launches.
Other changes planned for App Store Connect include the option of Nominations for developers to notify the App Store Updates Team of new content that can be considered for an App Store app, as well as alerts when an app finds an App Store app that includes social media ads.
